The development of unmanned vehicle technology is rapidly proceeding and will result in numerous advances in autonomous vehicles. Most of the research effort to date focuses on the safe and effective operation of these vehicles that will allow them to integrate into society. A research gap exists though in the technical, policy, and legal fields with regard illicit use of these vehicles beyond their programmed functions. In this paper we explore possible misuse of unmanned vehicles and illustrate the need for research in the technical, policy, and legal realms.
