High Single Mode Power in Photonic Crystal Vertical Cavity Lasers

Photonic crystal confinement incorporated into selectively oxidized vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) is for the first time shown to enable increased continuous wave single mode output power compared to selectively-oxidized devices fabricated in the same material.
